Just an old country swing
Just a board and two ropes
Worn from the burden
Of lost dreams and new hopes
With a dirt path below
From long toes and bare feet
That run to the swing
In times of defeat
Form lopsided branches
The swing hangs with care
With compassion and sympathy
It will always be there
With brown autumn leaves
That fall down like tears
Releasing the burden
Of feelings each year
From the warm summer wind
The swing comes alive
Rocking backwards then forwards
To say it's all right
Just an old loving swing
That's there like a friend
The best place to be
When there are feelings to mend
With a comforting silence
That listens with care
That old country swing
Will always be there
